Hi there, I’m Young.

You may have known for awhile that something doesn’t feel quite right. You hold it together heroically at work and for your loved ones, but you secretly doubt yourself. You may be experiencing insomnia, anxiety, anger, sadness, or burnout. You know you’re exhausted, but you don’t know what you can do about it without letting everyone down.

I’ve been there. I grew up in Seoul, South Korea with intense societal and familial pressure to perform in school and at work. Working in a corporate environment for 15 years, I learned to suppress my natural instincts in order to show up professionally at work. My personal journey to becoming a therapist has been one of unlearning shame and reconnecting with myself.

I’ve lived equal parts of my life in East Asia and North America. Growing up, I struggled to develop a coherent cultural identity, and often felt as if I ‘exist between worlds.’ As a result of my efforts, though, I have gained a deep appreciation of the nuances of both Eastern collectivist culture and Western individualism. This cultural sensitivity informs my practice and enables me to support my clients in exploring personal identity, resolving inter-generational conflict, and navigating a multicultural relationship.

I invite you to dig deep in our sessions together. I believe there is so much of you that is waiting to be brought to light, the unique qualities that bring meaning to your life, and the pain that yearns to be seen and heard. I create safety by being real with my clients; the feedback I get most often is that I ask good questions.

I hope that at the end of our work together, you will walk away with an unshakable sense of calm and clarity, and a deep knowing that you are enough, and that you are going to be okay.
