I am a clinical counsellor with a passion for supporting individuals and couples in Vancouver. I work from an attachment-based lens, meaning that I view emotional regulation strategies, thought patterns, and somatic regulation strategies as patterns that were learned in childhood in relation to caregivers. I believe that healing from internalized shame requires a deep and accurate understanding of how these patterns developed. To this end, I work with an authentic, compassionate and caring style to support your journey towards healing and self-acceptance.
My working style is influenced by my corporate background. Before becoming a counsellor, I worked for 15 years in the corporate sector in Asia. Working in an intensely competitive environment, I learned to value professionalism and the importance of providing sustainable value to clients. I aim to communicate transparently and directly, with genuine curiosity about your experience. As a self-employed solo practitioner, I am dedicated to ethical practice and on-going professional growth through supervision and training.
My approach is also influenced by having spent equal parts of my life in the vastly different cultures of East Asia and North America. My therapeutic style is a blend of the warm, community-oriented acceptance and caring of collectivist cultures, and the self-reflective, evidence-based insights of individualist cultures. I strive to provide clients with a balance of warmth and structure, empathy and challenge.
